NEW BERLIN – A New Berlin man accused of shooting and killing six horses at a property adjacent to Hunts Pond Road in the Town of New Berlin has been charged with multiple felonies for the alleged crime following an investigation by the New York State Police.
Lauren L. McMaster, 75, has been charged with six counts each of criminal mischief and cruelty to animals following the alleged incident, which authorities said involved a long-standing dispute between McMaster and a neighbor.
The horses were killed with a 12-gauge shotgun, according to authorities.
McMaster was arraigned in the Town of Columbus Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $500 cash, $1,000 bond bail.
