First United Methodist to hold community clean-up day
NEW BERLIN – The First United Methodist Church in New Berlin will hold its first “In the Community” outreach day at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Anyone is welcome to join members of the church as they hit the streets of the village clean yards and paint fire hydrants in participation of the imminent (hopefully) nice weather.
Church officials said the purpose of the program is to help families and individuals who may not have the means or capability to dispose of the post-winter refuse and prepare for summer.
“We’re trying to beautify the village as well as help members of the community that may not be able to help themselves,” said church member Kenneth Wiggins.
NAPA Auto donated a can of hydrant paint, a special blend that is exceptionally expensive, and Golden Artist Colors donated more than $50 to purchase another can.
“We appreciate their help so that we can accomplish more than we’d hoped,” said Wiggins.
Anyone interested in participating in the clean-up activities should meet at the church at 1 p.m.
