4-H and Tractor Supply Company work together for local youth
NORWICH – Beginning today, shoppers at Tractor Supply Company in the South Plaza will help decorate the walls and windows of the store with paper clovers to show support for 4-H.
This marks the second year that 4-H has worked together with TSC for the in-store fundraiser, working to the advantage of state and local 4-H programs in every community nationwide where a Tractor Supply Company or Del’s Farm and Feed Supply store is located.
The campaign, which runs until May 13, takes place every spring and once again in the fall, offering TSC shoppers the opportunity to sponsor a clover at check-out for $1 with all proceeds benefitting state and local 4-H programs. Money raised will be split among state and county 4-H programs and the National 4-H Council.
According to Chenango 4-H community educator Jennifer Sienko, the clover campaign is essential to the mission of 4-H. Last year, the Norwich Tractor Supply Company helped raise more than $1,100 in donations for the Chenango County 4-H. Nearly $600 was given to the organization following the spring and the fall campaigns.
“We are very appreciative of this partnership with TSC, which helps support valuable programming right here in Chenango County,” said Sienko. “We are also very appreciative of all the local TSC customers who donated a dollar to 4-H during the Clover Campaigns in 2011.”
4-H and TSC brought in $43,347 for 4-H groups statewide and over the course of two years, more than $1 million has been raised for thousands of 4-H programs across the country, 70 percent of which was allocated back to local and state programs according to a press release from the National 4-H Council.
“Through this highly impactful community event, we have been able to raise funds nationally over the past few years for thousands of 4-H youth across the country,” said President and CEO of the National 4-H Council Donald Floyd Jr. “We are more than pleased with the success of the 4-H Paper Clover Campaign and we are even more honored to continue the tremendous partnership that drives support for 4-H clubs and programs in the communities of more than 1,000 Tractor Supply Companies.”
As something new to the fundraiser this year, money donated during the national paper clover campaign will be tracked online and recorded by state and by store. For more information and to see the donation tracker, visit www.tractorsupply.com/4-H.
