ONEONTA - Andrea Day (Greene, Greene C.S.), a freshman at Oneonta State, was recently named as the women’s Fred Puritz First-Year Athlete of the Year at the school’s annual year-end awards ceremony.
A member of Greene High School’s state championship field hockey team two years ago, Day made an immediate impact on the Red Dragons’ team this past fall. She ended her first collegiate season with nine goals and two assists, third on the team in scoring. Day was honored by the SUNYAC as a second-team all-conference performer following the Dragons’ fall season, and she led the team with five game-winning goals.
