Spring concert tonight

NORWICH – The Norwich High School music department will hold its second Spring Concert of the year at 7 tonight in the high school auditorium. Performances will include the NHS Jazz Ensemble, selections to be announced; Treble Choir, “Somebody To Love,” words and music by Freddie Mercury; String Ensemble, “Danse Macabre,” “Viva la Vida” and “Allegro in D for Strings,” by Antonio Vivaldi; Madrigal Singers, “Battle of Jericho,” an African-American Spiritual arranged by Moses Hogan (Mallory Norton, soloist); Mixed Choir, “Lux Aurumque,” a poem by Edward Esch, Latin translation by Charles Anthony Silvestri, music by Eric Whitacre (Kristen French, soloist); Combined Choirs, “River In Judea,” lyrics by Linda Marcus, music by Jack Feldman; Wind Ensemble, “Fanfare For The Third Planet,” by Richard Saucedo; and the Seniors’ Selection, “Abram’s Pursuit,” by David Holsinger.
There will also be a presentation of the district’s Conference All-State Awards and a senior recognition ceremony.
