Kicinski forces primary against Hanna
EARVILLE – The New York State Board of Elections has announced its certification for the June 26 federal primary election for New York Congressional District 22. It is official that Michael Kicinski of Earlville is forcing a primary challenge against incumbent Richard Hanna.
Kicinski is centrally located in the newly created New York 22nd district, straddling the border of Madison and Chenango counties.
“Our location, generally in the middle of the new district, will make it very easy and convenient in both travel and communications,” he said. “I look forward to spending even more time meeting and listening to the concerns of the people. I will be the true Republican and conservative representative they want.”
The new Congressional District 22 includes all or part of eight counties: Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, most of Broome, the southern part of Herkimer, the eastern part of Oswego and the southeastern part of Tioga counties.
Kicinski said he supports reducing the size and influence of government by reducing or eliminating mandates and regulations, which will result in increased business opportunities and free markets.
“Businesses and people are moving out of New York, as seen by the lower census and loss of two of New York’s 29 Congressional districts,” Kicinski said. “I will work for changes that will favor growth in businesses and jobs for New York. Unlike the incumbent, I will work for real budget cuts with tax and mandate relief, that will result in job growth.”
