22nd Air Show promises piloting opportunities, aerobatic show at the airport Saturday
NORWICH – The clouds are expected to clear out on Saturday just in time for the 22nd annual Chenango County Airport Day at the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport.
The free-admission event, complete with military aircraft exhibits, in-flight demonstrations and plane rides for all ages, drew 2,000 people last year. Organizers are hoping for another solid turn-out again this year.
“It’s supposed to be a real nice day, the good Lord willing,” said airplane enthusiast David C. Law, R-Norwich, who chairs the Chenango County Planning and Economic Development Committee.
“I just love airplanes, and want to keep our airport active and have people realize what’s there,” he said.
Community clubs and service organizations from every corner of the county get involved, with some sponsoring refreshments and activities. The North Norwich and Afton fire departments kick-off the action with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by food and beverage offerings throughout the day. An opening flag salute ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
