Man accused in arson plot sentenced to one year; out on time served

NORWICH – A Town of German man originally charged with fourth degree conspiracy, a class E felony, and conspiring to commit the crime of third degree arson, a class C felony, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor conspiracy charge last week and has been released from the Chenango County Correctional Facility on time served.
Vasilios Pothos, 61, was sentenced to one year in the correctional facility on Friday. He had been incarcerated since September of 2011 – when we was first charged with the alleged crime – held on $100,000 cash bail. It’s alleged that Pothos attempted to hire another individual to set fire to a vehicle. He was arrested at his home by members of the Chenango and Cortland County Sheriff’s offices.
