NORWICH – A new business on the corner of North Broad and Fair streets in downtown Norwich is hoping to attract consumers in search of unique items, old and new.
New business owner Cindy Jipson opened her little shop, Cindy’s Home Decor Around the World, with the intent of always making the customer happy. The store offers a variety of new and used merchandise, with everything from candles and knick-knacks, to toys and jewelry, to VHS tapes, CDs and DVDs. And if what you’re looking for isn’t in the store, said Jipson, she promises to find it in her archives of online catalogs and other outside suppliers.
“We try to have a little bit of everything,” Jipson said. “If we don’t have it, I can try to find it ... I can get anything for anybody.”
Jipson, who first opened her doors earlier this month, said things are slowly picking up for her retail store. Although foot traffic is still slow-moving, she said online orders are giving her reason to be optimistic about the future of her business. Though she’s just starting out, hopes are to continue growing and eventually expand into a larger space in the future, she said.
“It’s always been my dream to own my own store,” said Jipson, recalling her previous position as an overnight attendant at the Quickway convenience store. “I thought I love to work with people and I love to help people ... Opening my own business is the best way I can work with customers.”
Cindy’s Home Decor Around the World will host its grand-opening celebration at its Fair Street location in downtown Norwich – behind the former Pasquale’s Pizza – on Aug. 4.
