Organizers prepare for Senior Day at fair
NORWICH – With the Chenango County Fair right around the corner, coordinators for the second annual Senior Day are busy with plans of bringing back last year’s favorite events along with some new activities for this year.
Special events for Senior Day at the fair are set to take place form 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Thursday. Anyone 60 years or older will have free admission that day to enjoy a host of free activities and special exhibits tailored toward their interests.
“We want seniors in the area to enjoy the day,” said Senior Day coordinator Judie Wright. “The day is really focused on them. It’s important that seniors who can’t get out and about every day aren’t forgotten.”
This year’s activity lineup include exhibitors and displays throughout the day; Bingo from 10-11 a.m., performances by the Norwich Theater Company, followed by a magician from noon-1 p.m., “Thanks for the Memories” music trivia with Joe Triofero from 1-2; a showing of percheron (draft) horses from 2-3:30; another round of Bingo from 2:30 to 3:30; and topped off by Ritz’s Polka Band from 2:30-4. Other performances can be seen by residents from Chase Nursing Home, Norwich Rehabilitation Center, the NYS Veterans’ Home and UHS-CMH. Performances and activities will be held in the entertainment tent in front of the exhibition hall.
