Pleasant Street drug bust nabs three

NORWICH – The Norwich City Police Department – assisted by Chenango County Sheriff’s Office detectives – forced entry into an 8 Pleasant St. residence at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, arresting three and seizing a “substantial amount” of heroin, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency, according to Police Chief Joseph Angelino.
The execution of the no-knock search warrant and subsequent arrests followed what authorities called a “lengthy investigation” by Norwich City Police detectives and members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), according to a Norwich PD press release.
No injuries were reported and officers met with “little resistance,” said authorities.
Those charged were:
• Scott L. Lavoie, 23, 8 Pleasant St., Norwich, charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; first degree criminal nuisance, a class E felony; second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, both class A misdemeanors.
• Michael A. Balarezo-Bravo, 21, 1228 South St., Utica, charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; and first degree loitering, a class B misdemeanor.
• Tryquan A. Robinson, 20, 1600 Armory Drive, Utica, charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; and first degree loitering, a class B misdemeanor.
“Officers have been dealing with subjects from 8 Pleasant St. on various complaints at different locations for a number of weeks,” said Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino. “Information developed from these encounters coupled with an investigation by CNET members and Norwich detectives led to a search warrant being signed by County Judge W. H. Sullivan.”
Angelino said he anticipates additional arrests as a result of the investigation. Lavoie, Balarezo-Bravo and Robinson were held in the Norwich Police lock-up pending their arraignment in Norwich City Court this morning.
Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride – whose office assisted in the case – said the class B felony charge alone – with the intent to sell – carries a maximum sentence of nine years state prison.
