McDonald’s reopens today
NORWICH – The McDonald’s restaurant located at 165 South Broad St. in Norwich will be kicking off its Grand Re-Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon today, to mark the completion of a full remodel, and will begin a four-week long series of events at the restaurant.
Originally opened in 1975, the restaurant will feature a variety of activities, including door prizes, a drive thru contest where every 10th car through the drive-thru starting at 5 p.m. wins $10 culminating with the 100th car winning $100. There will also be a radio broadcast by WHWK 98.1 FM from 5 to 7 p.m. where customers can enter to win a four-pack of tickets to the NASCAR races at Watkins Glen on August 10, 11 & 12. Every Friday from now until Sept. 7, there will be drawings for $100 back to school gift cards.
The grand opening celebration continues on Saturday with a Family Fun Night with prizes, contests, and appearances by SpongeBob Squarepants and Hamburglar. On Aug. 18, there will be an Arts & Crafts night with coloring contests, facepainting, and magic shows starting at 4:30 p.m., and on Aug. 25, the restaurant celebrates 35 years of service on a retro-themed Groovy Night, with a retro costume contest and an appearance by the one and only, Ronald McDonald.
“We’re very excited about all of the improvements to the store and how they will enhance our customers’ overall experience here,” said Kris Sexton, who owns and operates three McDonald’s restaurants in Cortland and West Windsor in addition to Norwich with her husband Dennis. “This represents a major reinvestment in this store, and in this community, and this is our way of thanking all of our customers for their past patronage.”
Originally opened on August 19th, 1975, improvements include a new, modern design that creates a sleek and sophisticated dining experience. The simple, neutral finishes allow the sculptural and architectural pieces to stand out among modern, clean lines. The new double drive-thru lanes will offer faster service and will be open 24 hours.
