McDonald’s reopens today

NORWICH – The McDonald’s restaurant located at 165 South Broad St. in Norwich will be kicking off its Grand Re-Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon today, to mark the completion of a full remodel, and will begin a four-week long series of events at the restaurant.

Originally opened in 1975, the restaurant will feature a variety of activities, including door prizes, a drive thru contest where every 10th car through the drive-thru starting at 5 p.m. wins $10 culminating with the 100th car winning $100. There will also be a radio broadcast by WHWK 98.1 FM from 5 to 7 p.m. where customers can enter to win a four-pack of tickets to the NASCAR races at Watkins Glen on August 10, 11 & 12. Every Friday from now until Sept. 7, there will be drawings for $100 back to school gift cards.

The grand opening celebration continues on Saturday with a Family Fun Night with prizes, contests, and appearances by SpongeBob Squarepants and Hamburglar. On Aug. 18, there will be an Arts & Crafts night with coloring contests, facepainting, and magic shows starting at 4:30 p.m., and on Aug. 25, the restaurant celebrates 35 years of service on a retro-themed Groovy Night, with a retro costume contest and an appearance by the one and only, Ronald McDonald.
