Second Cash Mob gets underway
NORWICH – Plans for the second Chenango County Cash Mob are well underway as Commerce Chenango, in collaboration with the Norwich Business Improvement District, seek out nominations for the next business to be “mobbed.”
The Cash Mob – an occurrence that brings consumers to one local business at the same time, on the same day, to purchase items in support of the business and the local community – is set for 6 p.m. on Sept. 27. Organizers are currently promoting the next “mobbing” in hopes of attracting nominations for businesses that wish to be mobbed. Once nominations are in, it will be up to the community to vote online for the business that’s mobbed.
The first-ever Cash Mob in June saw local shoppers to Ms. B’s Warehouse on American Ave. in Norwich. More than 500 votes were cast and the consignment shop was voted a favorite over 11 other nominated businesses.
To be considered for a visit by the Chenango Cash Mob, businesses should email chenangocm@gmail.com or call 334-1401 by Aug. 20. Eligible businesses must be a locally owned and independently operated retail business in Norwich. The Cash Mob will visit other businesses throughout the county over the next year and invites businesses outside Norwich to nominate itself for the next mobbing, and to find Chenango Cash Mob on Facebook.
