Georgetown man airlifted following three-car crash

NORTH NORWICH – A Georgetown man was airlifted via LifeNet helicopter to the Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, following an accident Wednesday afternoon that involved two pick-up trucks and a tractor trailer on State Route 12 in the Town of North Norwich.

According to authorities, Ralph Marshall, age 51, was driving southbound in his 2011 Chevy pick-up truck when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line into the northbound lane, sideswiping a tractor trailer travelling north. Marshall's pick-up then spun into a second pick-up, also travelling north, before veering off the roadway. Marshall was extricated from his vehicle and flown to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City with serious leg and arm injuries.

The driver of the northbound pick-up, Robert Austin, age 70, from Sherburne, as well as the driver of the tractor trailer, Gregory Kays, age 44, Callicoon, were uninjured. A passenger of Kays was also uninjured.
