North Norwich to hold informational meetings on gas drilling

NORTH NORWICH – The Town of North Norwich will be hosting two informational sessions relating to the local natural gas debate next week.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday during the regular monthly Town Board meeting at Town Hall. Discussion will be centered on the current status of natural gas development in Chenango County and the potential benefits it could have for townships in the county. Steven Palmatier of the Chenango County Natural Gas Development Committee will lead the discussion, expected to last 20-30 minutes. His presentation will be followed by a 30 minute question and answer session.

The second meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall. David Slottje, Esq. will offer insight regarding local land use authority to protect health, safety and community assets in the face of high impact industrial uses. Once again, there will be time for a question and answer session immediately afterward.
