2nd Annual 6OTS Golf Outing this weekend
OXFORD – The second annual ‘6 On The Square’ Golf Outing will be held Sunday at the Blue Stone Golf Course in Oxford. The tournament is a charity event, with all of the proceeds supporting the live music venue, located at 6 Lafayette Park.
“Last year we had five teams,” said John Knapp, organizer of the event. “This year we hope to double that turnout.”
With eight teams of four already enlisted, golf course administrators are already narrowing in on that goal and invite anyone still interested to register. Prices vary from $65 for one person to $250 for a team of four, with a complementary lunch included.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday with registration and an assortment of coffee and pastries. Team pictures will be taken at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. tee-off. Participants tee off simultaneously, or shotgun start-style, from each hole, resulting in everyone completing the course at approximately the same time.
After the tournament, a picnic lunch will begin at 2:30 p.m. along with raffles and prizes for the winners, including a prize for the most honest team. Prizes will include a $50 gift certificate for Skillin’s Jewelers in Norwich, along with handcrafted trophies. Raffle tickets will be sold for $10 each for a chance to win a driver with an estimated retail price of $400.
