Former AG candidate endorses DiStefano

NORWICH – Candidate for Chenango County Judge, Diane DiStefano, has announced key support from 2010 Attorney General Candidate Sean Coffey.

“Diane is extraordinarily well qualified and ready to serve the residents of Chenango County as Judge,” said Coffey. “Her service as Guilford Town Justice and Assistant Public Defender, and her many years in private practice have given her the experience to enable her to help move Chenango County in the right direction.”

An Annapolis graduate who earned his law degree at night at Georgetown Law while serving in the Pentagon and the White House, Coffey finished third in a field of five candidates for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General in 2010. (He placed second in Chenango County.) Coffey had previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1991 to 1995 before going into private practice where he became a partner at two elite law firms. Before running for Attorney General, Bloomberg Markets magazine profiled Coffey as “Wall Street’s New Nemesis” after he led the legal team that recovered over $6 billion from Wall Street banks on behalf of investors harmed in the WorldCom scandal.
