Two charged with felony possession following routine traffic stop

NORWICH – Two people have been charged with felony possession of crack cocaine following a routine traffic stop on Hale Street that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Monday.

The vehicle’s driver, Ariana L. Edwards, 35, of Binghamton, was charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony, tampering with evidence, a class E felony, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, an A misdemeanor, and second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Edwards’ passenger, Thomas Williams Jr., 23, Long Island City, was charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance – a class B felony – and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

According to authorities, Edwards was found to be driving with a suspended license following the traffic stop and it was discovered that Williams was wanted by the City of Utica Police Department on unrelated drug charges.
