Day named SUNYAC field hockey player of week

ONEONTA – SUNY Oneonta sophomore, Andrea Day (Greene/Greene), was selected as the SUNYAC field hockey Player of the Week in an announcement earlier this week by conference commissioner Azure Davey. Day had a tremendous opening weekend in leading the Red Dragons to a 2-0 start to 2012.

Day's highlight for the weekend came in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against the College of Wooster. In the contest she assisted on the game-tying goal with 39 seconds remaining in regulation, and then came up with the game-winner in the 82nd minute to lift Oneonta to the victory. Her game-winner was her second goal of the game as her first score gave Oneonta a 2-1 lead in the 22nd minute.

In Saturday's season opener versus St. Lawrence, Day registered a goal and an assist as the Red Dragons cruised past the Saints 5-1.
