Monday Evening Musical Club presents ‘Hooked on Tonics’
NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club of Norwich opens its 2012-13 season on Monday, Sept. 10 with the return of ‘Hooked on Tonics,’ SUNY Oneonta’s premiere A Cappella group. The group performs on campus as well as around the Oneonta area throughout the year. Hooked on Tonics (HOT) performs a variety of styles of music, from classical to contemporary. The purpose is to provide students with the opportunity to sing in an a cappella group and to expose the college campus to this genre of music. Hooked on Tonics also provides students with the opportunity to arrange popular songs for a singing group, to musically direct a singing group, to coordinate and book performances, become familiar with microphones and equipment, and to record their music for the campus community to enjoy.
Music Club is pleased to welcome them back after last year’s performance. The program will be held at United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main Street in Norwich and will begin at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public, as are all Monday Evening Musical Club concerts. The club accepts free will donations, which go directly into its scholarship fund. Scholarships are awarded to Chenango County high school seniors who pursue a music major in college, and have been given every year since 1954.
