EOH presents The Nields in free concert tonight

EARLVILLE – Days are shortening; nights are getting cooler. It’s that time of year when everyone gets in their way-too-busy mode! It’s fall but music and arts are still a part of living in central New York! The Earlville Awesome House presents The Nields in a Free Family Concert tonight at 7 p.m. The free concert will be at the historic theater in Earlville and is in collaboration with Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival weekend that features a full line of folk-rock performers in Norwich on Sept. 8th and 9th.
The Nields are sisters known for their gorgeous vocal harmonies and their careers show that they are also experts in being “way-too-busy.” Nerissa and Katryna Nields have been the darlings of the coffeehouse/festival scene since 1991, with tunes ranging from the idiosyncratic to kicking to heartbreaking. Their approach to songs and songwriting really invites the listener into the music making process. The Nields have fifteen folk recordings under their belt, including two for children, bringing folk to the next generation!
The Nields’ have just released their newest CD in honor of modern families, called “The Full Catastrophe.” It celebrates the engaging perspective of twenty years in the music business; a career which produced fifteen CDs, three books, a DVD, a thriving children’s music educational empire, four children and two husbands (one apiece). The full catastrophe is a line taken from the line from Zorba the Greek: “I’m a man, so I married. Wife, children, house, everything. The full catastrophe.”
The Nields sisters have created a powerful, passionate, thoughtful, humorous work that explores the crazy ride that is this insane twenty-first century idea of what it is to be a family! The idea that it might somehow be possible to raise children, maintain relationships and careers and contribute to the community while tending to one’s artistic soul at the same time.
Early reviews are excellent such as this excerpt “This dynamic sister duo has recorded their most thrilling CD to date. As with their prior works, the songs are smart and thoughtful, with beautiful melodies and intricate skin-tingling harmonies. Katryna, who could sing the phone book, has Nerissa’s brilliant songs with which to work, and Nerissa’s beautiful alto provides lush texture. After many listenings, the first adjective that comes to mind is “completely joyful…” RM Davis, iTunes
