GIRLS’ SOCCER
Greene 5, Delhi 1
GREENE – Greene junior Paige Wilcox tallied five more goals in a win over Delhi Thursday, and now has all 12 of the Trojans’ goals this season.
Wilcox scored her first goal on the breakaway, but later picked up a pair of assists from Janelle Milk lifting her club to a 4-1 lead at halftime.
After Wilcox scored her fifth goal, she was moved to goalkeeper where she made six saves. “She never practices in goal, but she has great instincts back there and did a great job tonight,” said Greene coach Brandy Stone.
The Trojans (1-0, 2-2) host Sidney next Thursday.

Sidney 2, Oxford 1
SIDNEY – Just two minutes after Oxford pared a two-goal halftime deficit in half, its game with Sidney Thursday was halted due to a lightning storm. Game participants waited an hour for the storm to clear before calling the contest.
Katie Kirk scored 14 minutes into the game for Sidney, and MacKensie Gravelin’s goal upped the Warriors’ lead to two goals by halftime. “We got to the game late and rushed through the warmup. We were sluggish through the first half,” said Oxford coach Heather Pizza. “After halftime we were ready to go. We scored the goal to gain some momentum, and then the game was called.”
Oxford returns to play Tuesday at Walton.
