Letter to the Editor: Joe McBride, a man of integrity

Editor,
I am actually one of those rare individuals who researched the position of Chenango County Court Judge in depth. Believing the position of Chenango County Court Judge requires a person with family and personal stability, I asked the candidates’ wives why they are running for office. Without knowing anything about me, Lou Ann McBride wrote me a two page letter communicating her husband’s experience and commitment to Chenango County. Lou Ann’s belief in her husband and their 28 year commitment to one another is important to me.
As my husband John and I got to know Joe and Lou Ann, it became apparent that they share many of the same values that we in agriculture share: hard work, pride, and loyalty to our family and Chenango County. Whereas the farmer wakes every morning to feed the people, I have learned that as District Attorney, Joe wakes to serve the people of the county.
When the announcement about the Wlasiuk’s trial was made, my husband turned to me and said, think about it, if something were to happen to our daughter, I want the person with the most experience in the position of County Court Judge. That person is Joe McBride. At that moment, I realized how important it is that Joe is elected.
We have gained a great deal of respect for Joe. Throughout this campaign, Joe has focused on doing what is right and he continues to do the right things. He has stayed his course, and he continues to remain solid even when most of us want to lash out. Because of this, we now describe Joe with just one word, and that word is integrity.
Joe’s experiences in private practice and the public sector allow him to have an understanding for both the opportunities and challenges we face as Chenango County residents. It is because of Joe’s respect for marriage, his core beliefs about family, and his own integrity that he is the best candidate to make decisions regarding individuals and families coming before him as our judge. I am confident he will make those decisions in such a manner that respects individuals’ dignity.
Because Joe serves the people of Chenango County so very well, it is an honor to tell his story. Joe has served us for the last 24 years of his life, so let’s serve him on September 13th. Together, we can elect Joe McBride as our next county court judge. When voting, please remember what I have learned; a vote for Joe is a vote for experience and integrity.
