Letter to the Editor: Revoir: Fair, honest and decent

Editor,
I was impressed with the presentation of Frank Revoir at the Chenango County Judicial Candidate Forum held Thursday, September 6 at the Norwich High School and sponsored by The Evening Sun. It simply confirmed the decision by both my husband and me to support Frank Revoir for the position of Chenango County Judge in the upcoming Primary this Thursday, September 13. This Primary will be for Conservatives, Independence, and Republicans and will result in a very important decision: who will be the judge who presides over the Chenango County Court, Family Court, and Surrogate’s Court for the next 10 years? That decision will impact all of us in Chenango County, either directly or indirectly.
This means that we need to choose a person who has what is known as “judicial temperament.” This is a quality that involves being able to look at each case fairly on its merits without bias, basing decisions on the law, and treating each participant in a court case respectfully, while at the same time keeping an orderly court. These abilities I have seen in Frank Revoir. I have found him to be fair, honest, decent, even-tempered, compassionate and caring, but firm when needed. These are all the same characteristics needed for a judge who not only deals with criminal cases, but also with family cases involving some of our youngest citizens in this county. So many lives can be impacted by this one position, which is why we need to be sure that the candidate we choose can best handle all three courts well.
Frank Revoir has extensive experience in all three courts, working in all three continually. I have talked to many of his clients who have given glowing reports of how he represented them. Frank has over 21 years of experience that he gained through serving in many legal capacities including Law Clerk, Prosecutor as Assistant County Attorney, Criminal Defense Attorney, Estate Attorney, and Family Court Litigator. So, when talking about experience, Frank Revoir has the most extensive, current, and varied experience needed to preside over all three courts.
I believe that the way a candidate runs his campaign can speak volumes about his character and ability to handle his position, if elected. Frank Revoir’s campaign is well run, orderly, and of the highest integrity. He has not sought retaliation when it appears that lies and rumors were being spread by the other side or yard signs were attacked, stolen or destroyed. He would not tolerate any of his volunteers being involved in any of these detestable acts nor in seeking revenge for things done against him or his campaign. I have the highest respect for him and his character and behavior.
Frank came to the Norwich Tea Party Patriots, where I am one of the coordinators, and allowed us to vet him even before he publicly announced his candidacy. He was the only one of the three candidates to do so. He spent a very long time explaining his credentials, experience, and reasons for running for the judgeship. He patiently answered a host of questions of all types. We are very impressed with his character, credentials and experience. This is why we have thrown our support behind him.
One of the statements made by Frank Revoir that impressed me the most at the Judicial Candidate Forum was given when Frank talked about why he is seeking the office of Chenango County Judge. He talked about the wonderful way that his parents had raised him to believe that each person needs to seek to make a positive impact on others in his community. He already strives to make a positive difference in his law practice and in other ways in this community. By electing him as judge, he would have even more opportunity to serve our county as a fair, just, and outstanding Chenango County Judge. Please, join me in voting for Frank Revoir for Chenango County Judge in the Primary held on Thursday, September 13. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m.
