Letter to the Editor: Mayor supports LoPiccolo for Ward 6

Editor,
Sixth Ward Republicans have an opportunity next week to select an alderman who already has familiarized himself with the duties, procedures and functions of the Norwich City Council and the needs of the residents of the City.
Tom LoPiccolo, 93 Birdsall St., has proven to be a good fit on the City Council, since his appointment to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Bob Jeffrey. LoPiccolo has settled into the position, participated in an orientation program and also attended a New York Conference of Mayors program for new local government officials. He has been able to hit the ground running and to contribute immediately to the operations of the city government.
He has been the driving force to pave parts of Birdsall St., Rowley Ave., and Hickok. He helped to make sure Kurt Beyer pool was open this year. He is committed to cleaning up neighborhoods and keeping them safe for residents.
I heartily endorse his candidacy for election to the remaining two years of Jeffrey’s term, and I look forward to continuing working with him for the remainder of his term.
His background for the position is ideal. He is a lifelong Norwich resident, is familiar with the everyday life of the community and has secure employment with the Norwich School District and at Gilbert Lake State Park.
Tom is working hard to support you, support him on September 13th.
Joseph P. Maiurano
Mayor of Norwich
