Public input requested for county’s plan for the future

NORWICH – What will Chenango County look like in 2030? What kind of jobs will be available? Where will these workers live? Will downtown communities be active? How much open space will be left?
Those questions and more aim to be answered in a new and revised Chenango County Comprehensive Plan, a draft of which can now be found online at www.co.chenango.ny.us/planning/planning-board/. The Chenango County Planning Board and Department of Planning & Development are asking for participation from each of the county’s 21 towns, eight villages and the City of Norwich. Those interested in guiding the county’s future may read the draft plan and make suggestions. The website may also be monitored for upcoming public information meetings about the plan.
Send comments by email to rmdoing@co.chenango.ny.us or shaneb@co.chenango.ny.us, or by mail to: Chenango County Department of Planning and Development, Donna M. Jones, Director of Planning, 5 Court St. Norwich, NY 13815.
The final version is subject to review and approval of the Chenango County Planning Board and the Chenango County Board of Supervisors. The last comprehensive plan was adopted in 1976. It was followed by the Chenango County 2020 Vision Plan in 1992.
