NORWICH – Commerce Chenango’s economic development department is sponsoring three public comment meetings for community members who would like to be involved in updating the Chenango County’s five-year economic development strategic plan.
Community members will be asked for feedback about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that impact economic development, as well as for feedback about goals and strategies to achieve economic success. “This will be an opportunity for the community to come together and share concerns, thoughts, and ideas about economic development in the county,” a press release stated.
The first meeting takes place tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria at BOCES in Norwich, located at 6678 county Road 32. Additional meetings are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20 in New Berlin at the Unadilla Valley Central School Library and also the same time on Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Moore Memorial Library Cynthia Raymond Room in Greene.
The county-wide economic development strategic plan aims to help identify the economic needs of the county and the goals and strategies that should be implemented to improve the quality of life, increase economic development opportunities, and achieve greater economic substantiality. The strategic planning process will take place over the next several months as Commerce Chenango collects data from community members, local organizations, government officials, businesses, and other resources. Additionally, the data collected during the strategic planning process will be utilized by the Chenango Industrial Development Agency to update its strategic plan.
