GREENE – Six different Greene players scored goals in a win over Sidney Friday, and six different players scored goals in the rout of Deposit on Saturday in a pair of shutout victories.
“It’s been great the way we’ve been spreading the scoring out,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “Our subs played a ton both nights, and we had some beautiful goals.”
In the victory over Deposit, Carlin was quick to mention the passing combination of reserves Elaina Engler and Tiffany Borst that led to a second-half goal. Engler took a through pass, steered the ball up the right side before making a pinpoint crossing pass to Borst, who rattled her shot into the cage. “That play was executed just the way you would draw it up,” Carlin said of the play. “It was a beautiful goal.”
Jahna Driscoll was the lone two-goal scorer in Saturday’s victory. Emma Anderson, Emily Gascon, and Paige Castle also had tallies.
Among the noteworthy goals Friday, Engler recorded her first varsity goal, Carlin said. Katherine Klecha added one goal and two assists. “Some of our subs played 40 minutes in the Deposit game,” Carlin said. “It’s huge that they can get that type of game experience.”
