No charges filed following trailer accident that shut down State Highway 220 for three hours
OXFORD – The Village of Oxford Police Department today released information concerning a Friday afternoon rollover involving an excavating truck, flatbed trailer and motorized lift truck that shut down traffic along Butler and State streets for approximately three hours.
According to Oxford Police Chief Rich Nolan, the truck was traveling west on State Street when its driver – Wayne E. Slate – attempted to make a right-hand turn onto State Highway 220 (Butler Street). Slate entered the corner, said Nolan, following which the flatbed trailer he was towing flipped. The 4x4 motorized lift truck Slate was towing was also flipped.
Oxford Police were assisted on the scene by the Oxford Fire Department and ambulance, as well as the New York State Department of Transportation, which inspected the large gouge in the pavement created by the flipped trailer. A Department of Transportation representative, said Nolan, “determined that a temporary patch of winter mix asphalt would need to be placed in the gouge, preventing any further problems.”
