Folk Duo Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart at 6 On The Square Sunday
OXFORD - Sunday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is presenting the folk singer-songwriter duo, all the way from Tennessee, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart. Armed with clever acoustic guitar interplay, autobiographical songwriting, lovely harmonies, and humorous storytelling, this couple will captivate your attention from the first moment they are onstage.
Mark Stuart has music in his genes; his uncle played guitar and his dad played the fiddle in his own band. It was only a matter of time before Mark started picking strings too, and by the age of fifteen, he was playing guitar in his dad’s band. Mark polished every axe riff and bend and vocal chord, and a couple of years later he formed his own band and cut his first record. He still found time to play on the road as lead guitar and vocals for acts like Freddy Fender and more taking him into his 20’s.
Stacey Earle and her brother also had the “music bug.” Her very first show was in 1990 on an arena stage in Sydney, Australia, playing rhythm guitar in her brother’s band, Steve Earle & the Dukes. After touring with the band for one and a half years, she returned to Nashville, TN, to start a career of her own as a country/folk singer/songwriter.
