Greene rolls to seventh straight victory

BOYS’ SOCCER

Greene 7, Sidney 1
GREENE - Greene’s Kurt Bartholomew and Alex Leone had hat tricks against Sidney Wednesday as the Trojans won their seventh straight game.

Leone and Bartholomew have been particularly effective of late as Greene pushes toward a MAC showdown next week with Unatego. “Alex and Kurt are playing well off of each other along with Karl (Zaengle),” Tallman said. “They are controlling the middle of the field.”
Zaengle added the sixth goal for Greene (8-1), who play at Walton Friday.

“We’ve just got progressively better and better, and you can see that in our return matches,” said Norwich coach John Stewart, whose club has won 10 out of 11 since starting the season 0-2. “We had two losses right out of the gate, but we now have so much more confidence going into matches. I attribute that to the girls and the effort they put into it.”

Hagen and Johnson were in the final foursome, and before their scores were posted, Forks held a one-shot lead. “Earlier in the year, we didn’t play very well against them,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham. “In terms of the wild card (for the STAC playoffs), this keeps us in it, but we’ll need some help.”
Ryan Johnson and Greg Todd shot 44 and 45 respectively for NHS, while Casey Marson added a 47. Norwich (8-4) visits Seton Catholic Central today.
