Plans are cooking for Oxford’s 28th Annual AppleFest
OXFORD – It’s almost time for the Oxford AppleFest and the St. Paul’s Planning Committee has been hard at work to make this the best year ever! This will be the twenty-eighth annual Apple Fest and it will be held on Saturday, October 20. What’s new? Longer hours for one thing: from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., but that’s not all; this is an amped-up AppleFest, and you could get involved too!
Amidst all the juicy crisp apples, cider, and pies, fun plans are being made for a new Kids’ Activities Tent outside in front of the Episcopal Parish House. There will be a good old-fashioned bean bag toss game and other simple sports with little prizes for every little one! In addition, there will be a creative space for young Picassos to pumpkin paint, and for those who want to be decorated… face painting.
They’ll have the regular raffle for a stunning handmade quilt made by the Episcopal Church Women’s group members, but there will be more to vie for.
They’re having a new Chinese Auction as well. Gift baskets of locally donated items and gift certificates will be offered. Some of the fantastic items are: a wine and cheese basket; a basket of pretty towels and fragrant soaps; a hand carved soapstone chess set; and a handmade wooden Adirondack chair made by Jim Johnson! Drawings will be held at 3 p.m.
