s and youngsters – get your costumes ready because this weekend Oxford Lions Club will be hosting its annual Halloween Parade. The parade is an adored tradition that has been going on for over two decades.

“My in-laws told me there even used to be floats in the parade,” said organizer Jen Bartle. Though devoid of floats this year, the free registration will start at 1:15 p.m., Sunday at the Oxford Fire Station on Fort Hill Park, rain or shine. If Mother Nature is in a benevolent mood and the weather is good, the parade will commence at 1:30 p.m., beginning at Fort Hill Park and winding its way down Main Street to Washington Park. But even the most egregious of tempests will prove powerless to stop these spooky merrymakers. Neither rain, sleet, or snow could hinder the 1:30 kick off, because if the weather does indeed turn for the worse, the parade will be held inside the fire station, said Bartle.

Participants will also be in competition for a number of cash prizes. There will be seven different categories for the masked wonders to compete in: Pre-K, K to first grade, second to third grades, fourth to fifth graders, Middle School, High School, and group or family. The winners of each category will be taking home a handful of cash and a chest full of pride for being the most imaginative person of their age in Oxford this Halloween season.
