Man charged with DWI after leading authorities on high-speed chase

PHARSALIA – A Norwich man has been charged with felony driving while intoxicated after he allegedly led authorities on a high speed chase that began in the Town of Preston and ended with a foot pursuit in the Town of Pharsalia on Saturday.
Christopher P. Lorimer, 48, was charged with driving while intoxicated, a class D felony; unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; refusal to submit to a breath screening device, a violation; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and a number of other vehicle and traffic law violations, following the alleged incident.
According to a Chenango County Sheriff’s Office press release, Lorimer was speeding westward on County Road 10 in the Town of Preston when sheriff’s patrols attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, they say Lorimer sped away in an effort to evade police. The chase ended in the Town of Pharsalia, where Lorimer then led officers on a foot pursuit before being apprehended, deputies said.
Lorimer was arraigned in the Town of Pharsalia Court, remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail and will re-appear in the Town of Pharsalia Court at a later date.
