Red Light District reunites this weekend to celebrate two decades of music

NORWICH – It’s been 20 years since the various members of Red Light District first formed the band in 1992 at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany and to celebrate the anniversary, the group will perform a pair of shows over the weekend, kicking things off at 8 p.m. Friday at the Blarney Stone Pub, 26 South Broad St., and 8 p.m. Saturday at the Westcott Theater, 524 Westcott St., Syracuse.

Featuring vocalist Terry Potter, lead guitarist Mike Vincitore, guitarist and vocalist Dave Boudov, drummer Sean Scanlon, Christian Walker on bass guitar, Mike Callaghan on keyboards and vocals, and Mike Walls on saxophone, Red Light District has enjoyed its share of success over the years, particularly among the college crowds in the 90s and early 2000s. Approximately seven years ago, however, the band’s members decided to take a bit of a break to focus on their individual careers and families, although Potter – now the mayor of New Berlin – said the group has always found time to reunite on stage as often as possible.

“It’s fantastic,” added Potter. “These are friends for life and some of the greatest friendships and greatest people I know. It’s just great to get together and see where all our professional lives have led and it’s amazing to see what we’ve all become in pursuing our lives. Just to have the ability to continue to play and write music is a dream come true.”
