Eleven local wrestlers reach Windsor tourney semifinals

WINDSOR – Eleven local wrestlers advanced to the semifinals of the 56th Annual Windsor Christmas Tournament after first-day action Thursday evening.
Greene topped the Chenango County entries with four grapplers reaching the final four, and it is also leads area schools with 43 team points, good for sixth place. Trevor Parrish (145), Dan Dickman (152), Mike Beckwith (160), and Christian Dietrich (170) moved on without a hitch. Dickman and Beckwith are the top seeds in their weight class, while Dietrich and Parrish maintained their number two seeds.
Norwich’s three Rifanburgs – Tristan, Cole, and Ty – all advanced for the Purple Tornado. Tristan Rifanburg, the eldest of of the siblings, is looking for a repeat Windsor championship.
Elsewhere, B-G/Afton’s Mark Viviano (195), Justin Cirigliano (138), and Jesse Griswold (132) progressed to the semis as did Unadilla Valley sophomore Alex Avolio (195).
Semifinals and wrestlebacks begin this morning with finals slated at approximately 5 p.m.
