Bonney wins Liberty League weekly award

GENEVA – Hobart College junior forward Richie Bonney (Norwich High School, Norwich) was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week earlier this week. The first award of 2013, it recognized Bonney's efforts in games played over the past two weeks that saw him average 31.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in three Statesmen victories.

On Dec. 30, Bonney netted a game-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds as the Statesmen cruised to a 74-59 victory over Hartwick. On Jan. 4, Hobart opened the new year and conference play with a 90-85 win at Rensselaer behind Bonney's seventh career double-double. He scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds helping the Statesmen rally from a 16-point deficit. Bonney's 40 points are the most in a game by a Hobart player since Eric Nelson '98 scored 46 points against Roberts Wesleyan on Jan. 17, 1998.
