Elm Street adds 4-way stops

NORWICH – Elm Street in the City of Norwich is now a four way stop street at three additional intersections. In addition to the four way stop at Hayes Street, signs are now in place requiring motorists to stop in all directions at the following Elm Street intersections: Eaton Avenue, Conkey Avenue and Francis Avenue.

City DPW employees erected four way stop signs on Wednesday. Near each intersection, motorists will see orange traffic barrels to alert them of the new signs ahead. This action comes after the Norwich Traffic Commission sent a recommendation to the Common Council for Elm Street to be a Stop Street at additional intersections in December.
