Freezing temps, wet roads lead to 2nd day of travel woes

CHENANGO COUNTY – Despite the lack of significant precipitation overnight, many drivers still faced a slippery commute this morning as temperatures remained at or near freezing. According to the City of Norwich Emergency Management Office, reports of light, freezing rain and drizzle were also making some roadways icy and drivers were warned to slow down accordingly and drive to the conditions of the road.

Emergency crews out of South Otselic, Norwich, New Berlin and Earlville, as of press time, had responded to a total of three accidents, reported City of Norwich Emergency Management officer A. Wesley Jones, including a one-car rollover at 2419 State Highway 26, Otselic; a vehicle that rolled onto its rooftop on Thompson Hill Road, Earlville; and a third one-car accident on County Road 25, Columbus, a reported car in ditch.
