GREENE – The New York State Department of Transportation suspended state Route 12 construction operations in Greene for the winter, except for some shoulder and guide rail work that continues as weather conditions permit.

When warmer weather returns, the contractor plans on starting on the bridge widening work on the Birdsall Brook Bridge near state Route 41 and to continue with storm drain work throughout the project. The contractor will also begin placing new plantings, topsoil and other various landscaping items. Finally, they intend to finish their work with the final paving and striping. Project completion is scheduled for the end of the construction season 2013.

“We are pleased with the progress of the project and we have received positive comments and compliments from people in the community,” said New York State Department of Transportation Region 9 spokesman David J. Hamburg.
