NORWICH – NBT Bank recently announced the bank’s participation in initiatives providing relief to those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, including an employee matching gift program and a small business loan fund.

Through the matching gift program, NBT Bank employees and the company contributed a combined total of $25,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support victims of Hurricane Sandy. Additionally, the bank announced a partnership with the New York Bankers Association and the New York Business Development Corporation. NBT Bank committed $500,000 to help establish a small business emergency loan fund to assist businesses in the affected communities.

NBT Bank President and CEO Marty Dietrich said, “We have all been struck by the amount of devastation experienced by residents and businesses in the communities hard hit by the hurricane. The process of recovering from this ‘super storm’ will be a long one that requires many resources, and we are honored to be able to provide some level of support to aid those in need.”
