Family of missing New Berlin woman hopes Saturday’s gathering will help spread the word
NORWICH – Family and friends of Jennifer Ramsaran – partnered with LostNMissing, a national non-profit focused on locating missing persons – will hold a special “Shining Hope” gathering from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew’s, 73 East Main Street.
Sponsored by LostNMissing, the event will open with a group prayer for Jennifer’s safe return and close with a flying lantern release, according to organizers, and posters will be distributed to those attending in an effort to locate the missing wife and mother of three, last seen leaving her 473 Sheff Road, New Berlin home on Dec. 11. All are invited, and volunteers are needed to help hang missing posters countywide – and even further – as the search for Ramsaran continues.
According to authorities, there has been no contact with Ramsaran; no activity on any of the woman’s financial or social online accounts; and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate any and all leads in the case.
Said LostNMissing founder and President Cynthia Caron in a recent press release, “A Shining Hope event helps bring hope for the family and awareness to the public ... gathering the public to assist is an ideal way of having more posters distributed in as many surrounding communities as possible.”
The event is also an opportunity for people to meet with Jennifer’s husband, Ganesh Remy Ramsaran, who said he continues to hold on to hope for his wife’s safe return. The more people who know of her disappearance and the case in general, said Ramsaran, the better.
“The Shining Hope event is specifically to bring awareness... it’s a family-friendly event oriented to bring the community together and hopefully to help bring Jennifer home,” stated Ramsaran. “The support we’ve received from the community, from all of our friends that live in the area and surrounding towns, I will never be able to thank them. Their support of the kids and myself has been truly amazing. It just shows you the incredible people of this community and I can never thank them enough. We have friends that have become family and acquaintances that have become friends. It’s just been amazing.”
Added Caron, “Remy and his children are holding strong and ask that if anyone has information, no matter how insignificant, that they please contact Lt. Cobb of the Chenango Sheriff’s Office ... all calls will be kept confidential.”
Authorities describe Jennifer Ramsaran as a white female, approximately 5’5” and 170 lbs. She has brown hair and blue eyes, although it has been reported that she may have changed her hair color at some point prior to her disappearance. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a purple and white sweater and a black jacket. Anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 334-2000.
Those attending Saturday’s gathering should plan to dress warm as it will be held outdoors, said organizers, and those unable to stand for an extended period of time may wish to bring a lawn chair.
