4th annual Hymn Sing Sunday celebrates the music of love

NORWICH – In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Emmanuel Episcopal Church will host its 4th annual Hymn Sing – A Celebration of Love – at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church, 37 West Main St.

As a non-denominational celebration, all are welcome to attend the event, said church organist and choir director Carolyn McMaster, who called the Hymn Sing a great way to bring the entire community together. The Hymn Sing, she added, is less about the church and more about the people – a celebration of life, love and friendship.

She added, “Love and music are the common threads among all humanity. A perfect example happened during World War II when enemies put their rifles down and sang hymns together on the battlefield on Christmas day.”
