Crouch petitions to repeal NY SAFE Act

ALBANY –

Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch (R-Guilford) today launched an on-line petition to repeal the controversial NY SAFE Act, the new gun-control legislation pushed through the legislature by Gov. Cuomo last month. The petition can be found on Crouch’s official Assembly web page at http://bit.ly/CrouchRepealPetition.

“The NY SAFE Act does not accomplish the goal of protecting families and our communities as it says it does. In fact, it completely missed the mark,” said Crouch. “It failed to address the root cause of the horrific acts in Newtown and elsewhere, which is without a doubt a mental health issue. We now have a controversial law that infringes on the rights of law-abiding firearm owners by treating them as criminals, among many other things, and it does nothing to actually address the violence that is committed by people with illegal firearms across the state. This is why I have decided to launch this petition.”
