Level 3 sex offender apprehended
SHERBURNE – Shawn M. Fowlston, 28, Norwich, was arrested last night on two warrants issued by Norwich City Court for forcible touching – a class A misdemeanor – and harassment, also a misdemeanor, after he allegedly violated the conditions of his parole.
Following the report of the alleged violation Tuesday afternoon, a search of Fowlston was conducted involving the Norwich City Police, Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, NYS Division of Parole, Sherburne PD, and the United States Marshall’s Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, which subsequently led to his apprehension at approximately 8:45 p.m. in a room at the Sherburne Motel. Currently in lock-up at the Norwich City PD, Fowlston is scheduled to be arraigned in City Court at the earliest possible time.
Fowlston, a convicted level 3 sex offender, was released on parole late last month. In response, the Norwich PD had canvassed the area, handing out fliers and circulating notification of his release, all in an effort to make certain local residents were aware of his release. Shortly thereafter, an incident involving Fowlston and an unidentified female was reported to the police and the hunt began.
