GREENE – Collaborating with local businesses, the Raymond Corporation hosted an Improving Team Collaboration & Resolving Conflict Seminar Friday morning at the newly renovated first floor of The Sherwood Hotel, which is scheduled to reopen in the near future.
Organized by the Raymond Corporation, the event was also sponsored by the Chenango County Job Service Employer Committee, Commerce Chenango and the Chenango-Delaware-Otsego Workforce. Forty-one people representing area businesses attended the seminar and participated in a wide variety of activities geared toward improving their respective work environments, including juxtaposing the benefits of working in a team as opposed to individually; exploring different aspects of conflict and conflict resolution; imparting knowledge in regards to synergy; as well as learning how to put to use eight tips for identifying win/win solutions. The seminar lasted approximately three and a half hours.
“We feel this seminar was a great success with participants from four counties – Chenango, Broome, Delaware and Otsego – participating in hands-on teamwork and conflict resolution activities,” said seminar presenter Teal Gaylord, who works as Raymond’s senior human resources and project management professional. “The success of this program shows that professionals in the area are hungry for opportunities to encourage growth in their business. Raymond is excited to partner with local organizations to give back to our community and businesses around the area.”
Although The Sherwood Hotel’s renovations are not yet concluded, the first floor is coming along nicely and participants were able to enjoy an immaculately decorated and freshly painted dining hall.
“We were very excited to host this seminar for Raymond and JSEC,” said Amanda Dunlap, who along with her husband and in-laws own The Sherwood Hotel. “We believe the Sherwood will be a valuable asset to the community as we look to have similar business functions here. We appreciate Raymond’s support while we renovate and look forward to opening this summer.”
The next major event scheduled to take place at the hotel will be held May 1, one that will meld The Sherwood Hotel’s Centennial Celebration with the Greene Art Walk, boasting a wide array of entertainment from live music and beer and wine tasting to local artist exhibits on display within the hotel, as well as other the other village businesses populating downtown.
