Chenango Valley 13, Norwich 1

FENTON – Chenango Valley’s was in midseason form as it opened its season with a rout of visiting Norwich Monday.

Nick Deamer contained the Tornado batters allowing just a single run in five innings to pick up the win. Leadoff hitter Chris Ruffo had three runs scored, and all but one CV starter had at least one basehit.

“They were really good, and they threw their best guy today,” said Norwich coach Rich Turnbull. “We made too many errors, and lot of bad things happen from errors from making you pitcher throw more pitches, to putting your defense in bad situations.”
