Seven indicted by grand jury

NORWICH – The Chenango County grand jury convened Wednesday and handed up a number of criminal indictments. During the proceeding, the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office presents evidence against those they wish to prosecute. It is up to the jury to decide if there is enough reasonable cause to charge a person with a felony offense.
Those indicted by the grand jury are arraigned before the county or Supreme Court judge at a later date.
The grand jury indicted seven individuals:
• Jody L. Spencer, 48, Milford, was indicted on two counts each of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
Spencer is accused of stealing property from a Norwich business valued at $1,000 or greater on two separate occasions, the first on or about Feb. 27, 2013, the second occurring on or about March 3, 2013.
• Roderic R. Williams, 45, Syracuse, was indicted on one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, a class D felony; one count of driving while intoxicated, a class D felony; and one count of first degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a class E felony.
Williams is accused of driving an automobile without a valid license and under the influence of alcohol, allegedly registering a blood alcohol content of .23 of 1 percent in the Village of Oxford.
Williams has one prior felony driving while intoxicated conviction, stemming from Januaryof 2012 in Chenango County, as well as a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated conviction in January of 2007 in Susquehanna County, Pa.
• Arik W. Nisbet, 24, Oxford, was indicted on two counts of third degree criminal sexual act, a class E felony; and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
It is alleged that – on or about Feb. 8, 2013 in the Town of Greene – Nisbet engaged in sexual acts with a person less than 17 years of age.
• Randy P. Brown, 60, Oxford, was indicted on one count of defacement of a weapon, a class D felony; and one count of third degree criminal possession of a weapon, also a class D felony.
Brown is accused of attempting to dispose of a Remington 12 gauge shotgun which had its serial number grinded off on or about December 2, 2012. It is also alleged that Brown was found to be in possession of two shotguns and two rifles, similarly defaced.
• Judy K. Bailey, 53, Waterville, was indicted on one count of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; and one count petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
It is alleged that – on or about March 2, 2013 – Bailey did steal a 55” LED television set, an air compressor, and a generator from a Norwich business.
• Lacey L. Gould, 29, Sherburne, was indicted on one count of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; and one count petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
Gould is accused of – on or about March 8, 2013 – stealing a 14 karat white gold diamond wedding band along with a bottle of Tramadol containing between 70 to 100 pills from a Sanitarium Road residence in Sherburne.
• James W. Bailey, 26, Utica, was indicted on three counts of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; and three counts of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
Bailey is accused of stealing merchandise valued at more than $1,000 from a Norwich business on two separate occasions. It is alleged that – on or about March 2, 2013 – Bailey stole a 55” LED television set, an air compressor, and a generator from a Norwich business. It is also alleged that – on or about March 3, 2013 – Bailey did steal two 50” LED television sets from the same Norwich business.
