The Sherwood Inn to host Centennial Celebration and Open House

GREENE – The Sherwood Inn will host its Centennial Celebration Open House and Art Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. on May 1 at its 25 Genesee Street location. The celebration is free and open to the public.

The Sherwood Inn was purchased in October by Amanda Dunlap and husband D.J., partnered with Donald and Mary Dunlap. Renovations have been taking place since that time, and all four owners said they’re excited for the celebration.

"For 100 years The Sherwood has been a place for the community to come together. For the Centennial, we thought, ‘What better way to celebrate than to have an event that brings people downtown and supports local businesses and artists.’ We want to see everyone out and about and having a good time," said owner and manager Amanda Dunlap.

A student art competition will be held, with the grand prize a $1,000 art scholarship. Attendee participation is encouraged and, according to Dunlap, the public will have an opportunity to vote on the winner of the art contest.

Cakes N More by Sue will provide a special cake for the event – a 3D anniversary cake of The Sherwood. Those in attendance will, of course, have a chance to enjoy a slice.

The Fabulous Moonlighters, a 16-piece big band, will provide live entertainment on the front porch, reported Dunlap, who added, “We think they are fabulous and really suit the occasion.”
