Can you explain how the new healthcare program will work? Can you tell me how it will affect you? How it will affect your friends?
How will it impact wealthy folks? How about poor folks? How much more will it cost you for your insurance? For your healthcare itself?
Warren Buffett reckons you should never invest in a stock of a company when you cannot understand what the company does. Well, this country is investing hundreds of billions of dollars in a healthcare program we do not understand.
The doctors do not understand it. Many say they will resign, rather than work within it.The politicians who passed it do not understand it. They admitted so when they voted for it, in its gargantuan state. Judging by his remarks, the President certainly doesn’t know how this monstrosity is supposed to work.
The insurance companies are jacking up their prices. Not because they know what their costs are going to be. But because they don’t. They are trying to cover their backsides. They are in the dark as much as you are.
Will the bureaucrats have everything set up on schedule? Sure does not look it. In fact, they are already warning us they will not.
Last week we saw results from a poll that said 42 percent of us don’t even know Obamacare is a law. How confusing is that? Now you know why politicians who get caught stealing or pillaging or molesting lay low for a bit, then make a comeback. They know millions of voters won’t know what they did. And millions more will forget before the month is out.
I mean, if 42 percent of us don’t realize Obamacare is a law? After the President’s blizzard of speeches on it? After the marathon sessions of Congress? After the drumbeat of news about it for months?
To summarize: Our government is shoving Obamacare down our throats. Never – not once – have a majority of Americans been in favor of it. Today the percent who favor it is at an all-time low.
Obamacare is going to wreak havoc with healthcare. It muscles its way into one-fifth of our economy. It will foist a gigantic new bureaucracy and unleash zillions of new taxes upon us. It has already caused many businesses to end health insurance for their workers. It has already caused many businesses to cut the hours of workers, to avoid having to buy health insurance.
The government will hire, train and field over a hundred thousand activists to push Obamacare. (Think Acorn.)
Meanwhile, 80 to 85 percent of Americans say they are happy with their healthcare the way it is. Meanwhile, the new plan will not, will not provide healthcare insurance for all Americans. Which is why the monster was created.
Meanwhile, there is an excellent chance the Democrats will earn a black eye over this for decades to come.
Meanwhile, you and I cannot answer the questions I posed at the start of this column. More of us understand how nuclear power plants work than understand how this ridiculous program will work.
We ought to scrub the damned thing and start over. Scrap every bit of it except for psychiatry coverage. We need an army of shrinks to figure out how we ever got into this mess.
